Use the image-of-a-point formula for reflection about a line ax+by+c=0ax+by+c=0.

For a line ax+by+c=0ax+by+c=0 and a point (x1,y1)(x_1,y_1), the image (reflection) (x′,y′)(x', y') is given by

x′−x1a=y′−y1b=−2(ax1+by1+c)a2+b2\frac{x'-x_1}{a} = \frac{y'-y_1}{b} = \frac{-2(ax_1+by_1+c)}{a^2+b^2}

Here the line is 3x+4y−1=03x+4y-1=0, so a=3, b=4, c=−1a=3,\ b=4,\ c=-1, and the point is (x1,y1)=(1,2)(x_1,y_1)=(1,2).

ax1+by1+c=3(1)+4(2)−1=10,a2+b2=9+16=25ax_1+by_1+c = 3(1)+4(2)-1 = 10, \qquad a^2+b^2 = 9+16 = 25
