Revenue income is the recurring income earned through the ordinary activities of a business in an accounting year (sales, rent, interest, commission, discount received, etc.). It is short-term in nature and is credited to the Profit & Loss / Income & Expenditure Account, unlike capital income which is non-recurring.

This concept is part of the capital-versus-revenue distinction studied in the AP Inter 2nd-year (Class 12) Accountancy syllabus, which aligns with the NCERT/CBSE commerce curriculum.

Revenue income is the income that a business earns regularly from its normal operating activities, such as income from the sale of goods, rent received, interest received, commission earned and discount received.
