Huckel's rule: aromaticity requires (4n+2) pi electrons in a planar, cyclic, fully conjugated ring.

For a compound to be aromatic, it must satisfy all of the following: (1) it must be cyclic, (2) planar (allowing continuous overlap of p-orbitals), (3) every ring atom must have a p-orbital available to form a continuous conjugated pi system, and (4) Huckel's rule of electron count -- the ring must contain (4n+2) pi electrons, where n is a non-negative integer (0, 1, 2, ...).
