An impossible event is an event with no favourable outcomes at all — it is the empty set, with probability 00.

In probability theory, an event is a subset of the sample space SS of a random experiment. If an event EE contains no outcomes of SS at all, i.e. E=∅E=\varnothing, then EE can never actually occur no matter what the outcome of the experiment is. Such an event is called an impossible event.
