A DNA palindrome reads the same on both strands when each is read 5'→3'. TATA is one such sequence — it is its own palindrome.

In DNA, a base sequence is called a palindrome if it reads identically on both strands when each strand is read in the 5'→3' direction (this is different from a plain word-palindrome).

Write TATA as the sense strand:

5'-T A T A-3'

Pair each base with its complementary base (A↔T) to get the antiparallel strand:

3'-A T A T-5'

Now read this complementary strand starting from its own 5' end (i.e. right to left as written above): this gives 5'-T A T A-3' again.
