Two pituitary hormones: Growth Hormone (promotes body growth) and TSH (stimulates the thyroid gland).

The pituitary gland (the master gland) secretes several hormones. Two important ones and their functions are:

  1. Growth Hormone (GH), also called Somatotropin:
  • It stimulates the growth and development of body tissues, particularly the elongation of bones and growth of muscles.

  • Its over-secretion in childhood causes gigantism and in adults causes acromegaly, while its under-secretion causes dwarfism.
