Projectile motion is motion under gravity in 2D; T = 2u sinθ/g, H = u^2 sin^2θ/2g, R = u^2 sin2θ/g.

Projectile motion is the motion of a body projected into the air at an angle, moving freely under the action of gravity alone (air resistance neglected). Its path is a parabola. The horizontal component of velocity stays constant, while the vertical component changes due to gravity.

Let the body be projected with speed u at angle θ to the horizontal. Then:

  • Horizontal component u_x = u cosθ (constant).
  • Vertical component u_y = u sinθ (decreases going up, reverses coming down).

A. Time of flight (T): total time in air. Using vertical motion, the body returns to launch level when net vertical displacement is zero:

0 = u sinθ·T − (1/2)gT^2 ⇒ T = 2u sinθ/g.
