Interest on drawings — Moli ₹780, Golu ₹660. Interest on Golu's loan (6% default) ₹400 is a charge. Divisible profit ₹15,990 → Moli ₹9,594, Golu ₹6,396. Closing capitals: Moli ₹40,814, Golu ₹15,736.

Step 1 — Interest on drawings @ 12% p.a.

Each partner withdraws ₹1,000 per month (total ₹12,000); the average period depends on timing.

  • Moli, at the beginning of each month → average 6.5 months

12,000 × 12/100 × 6.5/12 = 780

  • Golu, at the end of each month → average 5.5 months

12,000 × 12/100 × 5.5/12 = 660

Step 2 — Interest on capital @ 10% p.a.

Moli = 40,000 × 10% = 4,000 ; Golu = 20,000 × 10% = 2,000

Step 3 — Interest on Golu's loan (a charge, not an appropriation)

No rate is stated, so the Partnership Act default of 6% p.a. applies, for 8 months (1 Aug 2019 – 31 Mar 2020):

10,000 × 6/100 × 8/12 = 400

This is debited to the P&L Account (credited to Golu's Loan A/c), so profit available for appropriation = 20,950 - 400 = 20,550.

Step 4 — Profit and Loss Appropriation Account
