Food chain = single linear feeding sequence; food web = network of interlinked food chains. Aestivation = summer dormancy (escape heat/drought); Hibernation = winter dormancy (escape cold).

(a) Food chain and Food web:

Food chainFood web
It is a single, straight-line sequence showing the transfer of food energy from one trophic level to the next (e.g. grass → grasshopper → frog → snake → hawk). It is a network formed by the interconnection of many food chains in an ecosystem, where an organism may feed at more than one trophic level.
It has a single, isolated pathway of energy flow; it is less stable. It has many alternative pathways of energy flow, giving greater stability to the ecosystem.

(c) Aestivation and Hibernation:

Aestivation (summer sleep)Hibernation (winter sleep)
It is a state of dormancy/inactivity during the hot, dry summer, by which an animal escapes high temperature and desiccation. It is a state of dormancy/inactivity during the cold winter, by which an animal escapes the extreme cold.
Examples: some snails, fishes and frogs aestivate in summer.Examples: frogs, bears and some reptiles hibernate in winter.
