Poultry Farm Management
9.1.1.2
Poultry Farm Management
Poultry refers to the domesticated birds kept for food or for their eggs — chiefly chicken and ducks, and in some regions turkey and geese as well. The term is often loosely used to mean the meat obtained from these birds, though in a wider sense it can also cover the meat of other birds.
Components of good poultry management
Just as in dairy farming, successful poultry management rests on a similar set of principles:
- Selecting disease-free, suitable breeds
- Providing proper and safe farm and housing conditions
- Ensuring adequate feed and water
- Maintaining strict hygiene and routine health care
