This is not the same as equality of outcome; rather, it is about removing barriers that prevent people from reaching their potential. For example, if a girl in a rural village cannot attend school because of social norms, that is an inequity. Human development insists that such disparities must be corrected. A society that educates only its wealthy or only its men is not truly developing — it is merely growing unevenly.
