Think about your own day. You woke up, checked your phone for messages, ate food that came from a farm somewhere, and later took a bus or an auto to college. None of that happens by accident. Two invisible systems make it possible: transport (moving things and people from place to place) and communication (moving information from person to person). Together, they form the circulatory system of any economy.

What the term actually means

"Transport Communication Significance" is the study of why transport and communication matter so much — not just as services, but as the backbone that holds society and the economy together. The NCERT textbook treats them as the lifelines of a nation's economy. Without them, raw materials would sit at mines, finished goods would rot in factories, and you would never know what is happening in the next town, let alone the world.
