Step 1 — Apply the first discount. After 20% off, the price is

1000×(1−20100)=1000×0.80=₹800.1000\times\left(1-\frac{20}{100}\right)=1000\times0.80=₹800.

Step 2 — Apply the second discount on the reduced price. The 10% is taken on ₹800, not on ₹1,000:

800×(1−10100)=800×0.90=₹720.800\times\left(1-\frac{10}{100}\right)=800\times0.90=₹720.
