(a) ₹8 (b) ₹4 (c) Vendor A/c Dr. ₹1,00,000 / To Share Capital A/c ₹1,00,000.

Concept

When shares are forfeited, the Share Capital account is debited with the amount called-up on those shares, never merely the amount paid — the unpaid balance is cancelled and the amount already received is retained. On reissue the company may allow a discount, but the discount can never exceed the amount already forfeited on those shares; hence the minimum reissue price is the face value less the amount forfeited. When shares are issued to a vendor in payment for an asset, the vendor's account is settled by crediting Share Capital (and Securities Premium, if issued at a premium).

Working Notes

(a) The share of ₹10 is called-up only to ₹8. On forfeiture the Share Capital account is debited with the called-up amount, i.e. ₹8 (the ₹6 actually paid is the amount forfeited and retained, not the debit figure).

(b) ₹6 has been received on the share, so the maximum discount allowed on reissue is ₹6. Minimum reissue price = ₹10 − ₹6 = ₹4 per share.

(c) 1,000 shares of ₹100 each are issued as fully paid to settle plant and machinery worth ₹1,00,000 (1,000 × ₹100 = ₹1,00,000), so there is no premium.
