Consumers have six rights: Safety, Information, Choice, to be Heard, Redressal, and Consumer Education.

Under the Consumer Protection Act, a consumer is given the following rights to protect him from exploitation:

  1. Right to Safety — the right to be protected against goods and services that are hazardous to life, health and property; the consumer should get safe and reliable products.
  2. Right to be Informed — the right to get complete and correct information about the quality, quantity, purity, standard, price and ingredients of goods and services, so that he is not misled by false claims.
