Fitness Test – SAI Khelo India Fitness Test in School
Fitness is the ability to perform physical activity, and it covers a wide range of abilities. Every activity and sport needs its own particular set of skills, so being fit for one activity does not automatically make a person fit for another. Because of this, fitness is divided into separate components, and each component can be tested and trained on its own. The SAI Khelo India Fitness Test lets a school assess these components efficiently, recording results through the Khelo India Fitness Assessment App and viewing them on the School Dashboard.
The test is organised as a battery of tests — a fixed set of items — split into two age bands.
Age Group 5–8 Years | Class 1 to 3
Children in Classes 1–3 are still acquiring their Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) — the locomotor, manipulative and body-management abilities that are the building blocks for games, dance and sport. At this stage the aim is to measure and track the abilities most important for controlling the body in different situations:
- Body Composition (BMI)
- Coordination (Plate Tapping)
- Balance (Flamingo Balance)
Age Group 9–18+ Years | Class 4 to 12
From Class 4 onward the focus shifts to overall physical fitness. The Physical Health and Fitness Profile for this band records five components:
