Sacrificing ratio = 2 : 1; new ratio = 6 : 1 : 3.

Old ratio A:B = 4:1 (A = 4/5, B = 1/5).

A surrenders 1/4 of his share = 1/4 x 4/5 = 1/5.

B surrenders 1/2 of his share = 1/2 x 1/5 = 1/10.

Sacrificing ratio A:B = 1/5 : 1/10 = 2/10 : 1/10 = 2 : 1.

C's share (sum surrendered) = 1/5 + 1/10 = 2/10 + 1/10 = 3/10. …
