Perisperm and pericarp are structurally and positionally very different: one is seed-level nucellus remnant, the other is fruit-level tissue derived from the ovary wall.

Perisperm: In some seeds (e.g. black pepper, beet), the nucellus is not completely used up during seed development and its remnant persists as a nutritive tissue alongside the endosperm/cotyledons — this residual, persistent nucellar tissue is called the perisperm. It lies inside the seed coat, around the embryo/endosperm.
