Sperm meets the ovum in the wider ampullary part of the oviduct, near where it narrows into the isthmus.

After ovulation, the secondary oocyte is picked up by the fimbriae of the oviduct (Fallopian tube) and moves into the ampulla, the wide, curved part of the tube. Fertilization by a sperm normally occurs at the junction where the ampulla meets the narrower isthmus -- the ampullary-isthmic junction. The resulting zygote is then moved down the oviduct toward the uterus over the following days.
