Differentiation is a cell maturing into a specialised, non-dividing form; de-differentiation is a mature cell regaining the ability to divide; re-differentiation is those newly-dividing cells maturing again into a new specialised tissue.

Differentiation: Cells derived from the root apical meristem, shoot apical meristem, or cambium differentiate — they undergo structural and physiological changes (such as thickening or modification of the cell wall, changes in the protoplasm) — to form cells and tissues suited to perform a specific function. Once differentiated, these cells generally lose the ability to divide.
  2. De-differentiation: Living, differentiated cells that have lost the capacity to divide can, under certain conditions, regain that capacity.
