A National Park is a strictly protected area set aside by law to conserve wildlife and its habitat in its natural state; Dachigam National Park and Kishtwar National Park are two well-known examples from Jammu and Kashmir.

A National Park is an area of land (and sometimes water) that is legally notified and protected by the government primarily to conserve the natural flora, fauna, landscape and ecosystem of that region. Within a National Park:
