Tabular Presentation of Data

In tabular presentation the data are arranged in rows (read horizontally) and columns (read vertically), so that any figure can be located at once by the row and column it sits in.

A table is described by its size. For example, a table of literacy rates with three rows (male, female, total) and three columns (rural, urban, total) is a 3×33 \times 3 table; it holds 3×3=93 \times 3 = 9 pieces of information in nine boxes called cells.
