[!TLDR]

In cyclic photophosphorylation, only Photosystem I (PS I) is involved. Light excites chlorophyll in PS I, ejecting an electron which is captured by an electron acceptor and passed through the electron transport chain (via cytochrome complex) and back to PS I via plastocyanin, instead of passing to NADP+. The electron flow through the cytochrome complex pumps protons across the thylakoid membrane, creating a proton gradient used to generate ATP (no NADPH is formed and no O2 is evolved).
