Intrinsic = pure (ne=nhn_e=n_h, low conductivity, only temperature-dependent); extrinsic = doped (majority/minority carriers, high controllable conductivity).

Concept. A pure semiconductor is intrinsic; adding a small controlled amount of impurity (doping) makes it extrinsic, greatly changing its conductivity.

Three differences.

FeatureIntrinsicExtrinsic
PurityPure semiconductor (no doping)Doped with pentavalent/trivalent impurity
Charge carriersEqual electrons and holes, ne=nh=nin_e = n_h = n_iUnequal; majority + minority carriers (ne≫nhn_e\gg n_h for n-type, nh≫nen_h\gg n_e for p-type)
