Conventional methods often detect a disease only after the pathogen has multiplied to a high level and symptoms appear. Early diagnosis by molecular/recombinant DNA techniques allows detection of a pathogen or disease-causing gene at a very low concentration, before symptoms appear, allowing timely treatment.
