a) Broad-spectrum vs narrow-spectrum antibiotics
Broad-spectrum antibiotics are effective against a wide range of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (and sometimes other microorganisms). Example: Chloramphenicol (also ampicillin, tetracycline are valid examples).
Narrow-spectrum antibiotics are effective against only a limited/specific group of microorganisms, typically only gram-positive or only gram-negative bacteria. Example: Penicillin G (effective mainly against gram-positive bacteria).
b) Antiseptics vs disinfectants
Similarity: Both antiseptics and disinfectants are chemical substances that kill microorganisms or inhibit/prevent their growth (they are both germicidal/antimicrobial agents), and in fact the same chemical compound can sometimes act as either, depending on its concentration (e.g. a 0.2% solution of phenol acts as an antiseptic, while a 1% solution acts as a disinfectant).
