Q.State Marshall's definition of Economics.
Alfred Marshall, in Principles of Economics (1890), moved the focus of Economics away from wealth alone and toward human welfare. His definition states: "Economics is a study of mankind in the ordinary business of life; it examines that part of individual and social action which is most closely connected with the attainment, and with the use, of the material requisites of well-being." Here, wealth becomes a means to human welfare rather than an end in itself, and Economics studies both the individual and social sides of everyday economic activity — earning a living, spending, and saving.
Marshall's welfare definition: Economics is the study of mankind's ordinary business of life, concerned specifically with the material requisites of human well-being.
