Ecological (Ecosystem) diversity
Ecosystem or ecological diversity refers to the different types of ecosystems and habitats found within a given geographical area, each with its own distinctive, interlinked community of species shaped by the particular features of that habitat. A region may contain one or many different ecosystem types. Ecosystem diversity is therefore very high in a country like India, which supports deserts, rain forests, deciduous forests, estuaries, wetlands and grasslands among many other ecosystem types, while it is comparatively low in a country like Norway.
