This is a project/assignment, so the aim is to do original research and present findings — not to recall a single fixed answer. Here is a model approach.
Step 1 — Understand what to look for
- A joint venture is the pooling of resources and expertise by two or more businesses for a common goal, with shared risks and rewards. When one partner is Indian and the other foreign, the foreign partner typically brings technology, brand and capital, while the Indian partner brings market access, distribution and local knowledge.
Step 2 — Build your list of examples
- Sources: company annual reports, the business pages of newspapers, business magazines, and company websites.
- For each entry, record: the Indian company, the foreign partner and its country, the sector/product, the year the venture was formed, and whether it is a contractual or equity-based joint venture.
- Present the list as a table so it is easy to compare.
Step 3 — Identify the apparent benefits for each venture
Use the six standard benefits of a joint venture as a checklist, and note which apply to each example:
- Increased resources and capacity — did pooling financial and human resources let the venture grow faster?
- Access to new markets and distribution networks — did the foreign partner reach India's huge market and use the Indian partner's ready distribution channels?
- Access to technology — did the Indian partner gain advanced production techniques?
- Innovation — did new, creative products come from the partnership?
- Low cost of production — did the foreign partner benefit from India's low-cost materials, labour and skilled workforce? …
