An equipotential surface is defined as a surface at every point of which the electric potential is the same. Since the potential does not change as we move from one point to another on such a surface, no work is done in moving a test charge along it (W=q(VA−VB)=0W = q(V_A - V_B) = 0 since VA=VBV_A = V_B).
