Adding interest on capital, goodwill share, reserve fund share, and profit-till-death (estimated from sales) to Rajesh's opening capital gives a final payable of ₹1,70,750 to his executors.

Ankit, Rajesh and Vikram share profits 2:1:1 — Rajesh's share = 1/4. Rajesh died on 30th September, 2024, i.e., he was part of the firm for 6 months of the year (1st April to 30th September, 2024).

  1. Interest on Capital @ 6% p.a. for 6 months: = ₹1,25,000 × 6% × 6/12 = ₹3,750
  2. Goodwill: Executor is paid ₹24,000 directly for Rajesh's share of goodwill (given).
  3. Reserve Fund: Rajesh's share of ₹12,000 Reserve Fund = ₹12,000 × 1/4 = ₹3,000
  4. Share of profit till death (based on sales): Profit-to-sales ratio from last year = Profit for year ended 31.3.2024 / Sales for 2023–24 = ₹2,00,000 / ₹4,00,000 = 0.5 (i.e., 50% of sales translate to profit, going by last year's relationship) Estimated profit for the period 1st April–30th September, 2024 = Sales for that period × 0.5 = ₹1,20,000 × 0.5 = ₹60,000 Rajesh's share of this estimated profit = ₹60,000 × 1/4 = ₹15,000 Rajesh's Capital Account: | Dr. | ₹ | Cr. | ₹ | |---|---|---|---| …
