List all natural-number solutions of a+3b=12a+3b=12, then read off the first coordinates (domain) and second coordinates (range).

We need a,b∈Na,b\in N (so a,b≥1a,b\ge 1) with a=12−3ba=12-3b.

b=1⇒a=12−3=9,b=2⇒a=12−6=6,b=3⇒a=12−9=3.b=1\Rightarrow a=12-3=9,\quad b=2\Rightarrow a=12-6=6,\quad b=3\Rightarrow a=12-9=3.

For b=4b=4, a=12−12=0∉Na=12-12=0\notin N, and larger bb give negative aa. So

R={(9,1),(6,2),(3,3)}.R=\{(9,1),(6,2),(3,3)\}. …
