From the cash book overdraft ₹6,920, items that increase the amount owed (interest on overdraft + collection charges, dishonoured bill, un-collected deposit) raise the overdraft; the un-encashed cheques and interest collected reduce it.

Using the figures given, overdraft as per pass book = ₹9,270; the NCERT printed key is ₹9,170 (see Working Note 3).

Treatment. Interest on overdraft (₹200) and charges for collecting bills (₹50) debited by the bank increase the overdraft — minus side. A bill receivable dishonoured (₹700) debited in the passbook increases the overdraft — minus side. Cheques paid in but not collected (₹6,000) are in the cash book only, raising the passbook overdraft — minus side. Cheques drawn but not encashed (₹4,000) and interest collected by the bank (₹600) reduce the overdraft — plus side.
