The amount due to a deceased partner is transferred to his Executor's Loan Account, not paid out immediately in cash.

When a partner dies, his final dues are computed exactly as for a retiring partner: his Capital Account is credited with his share of goodwill, accumulated reserves/profits, revaluation profit, and profit up to the date of death (via a Profit and Loss Suspense Account), and debited with any drawings and losses.

The resulting balance represents the amount payable to the deceased partner's legal heirs. Since immediate cash settlement is rarely possible (the exact heir/executor must first be legally established, and the firm may need time to arrange funds), this balance is not paid out straight away. Instead, it is transferred out of the Capital Account into a separate liability account in the name of the deceased partner's representative:
