Staffing is the part of HRM concerned with manning, and keeping manned, every organisational position with suitably qualified people.

Staffing is one of the key functions of management and the operational heart of Human Resource Management. Its goal is to ensure that the organisation always has the right number of people, with the right skills, in the right positions, at the right time. It involves several interconnected activities:

  • Training and development — continuously upgrading the knowledge and skills of employees so they keep pace with changing job requirements.
