CAD (Coronary Artery Disease) is narrowing of the heart's own blood vessels due to atherosclerotic deposits, reducing the heart muscle's blood/oxygen supply.

CAD (Coronary Artery Disease), also known as atherosclerosis or ischaemic heart disease, is a condition that affects the coronary arteries — the blood vessels that supply oxygenated blood to the heart muscle (myocardium) itself.

Cause: CAD is caused by the gradual deposition of calcium, fat (cholesterol) and fibrous tissue on the inner walls (lumen) of the coronary arteries. These deposits form plaques that progressively narrow the arterial lumen, reducing its diameter and restricting blood flow.
