Actinomorphic flowers have radial symmetry (divisible into equal halves along any diameter); zygomorphic flowers have bilateral symmetry (divisible into equal halves along only one particular plane).

Option (a): Actinomorphic vs zygomorphic flowers

When a flower can be divided into two equal radial halves in any radial vertical plane passing through the centre, it is called actinomorphic or regular, e.g., mustard, datura, chilli. When a flower can be divided into two similar halves only along one particular vertical plane, it is called zygomorphic or irregular, e.g., pea, gulmohur (Delonix), bean, Cassia. Actinomorphic flowers show radial symmetry; zygomorphic flowers show bilateral symmetry.
