Homosporous ferns/pteridophytes produce a single kind of spore giving one bisexual gametophyte; heterosporous ones produce two distinct spore types giving separate male and female gametophytes.

Pteridophytes reproduce by spores, and are divided into two groups based on the kind of spores they produce:

Homosporous pteridophytes — produce spores that are all similar in size and structure (one kind of spore). Each spore germinates into a single bisexual (monoecious) gametophyte (prothallus) that bears both antheridia (male) and archegonia (female). Examples: Lycopodium, Equisetum, and most true ferns.
