1. Philosophy of life. Olympism blends sport, culture and education into a way of life based on the joy of effort, good example, social responsibility and respect for ethical principles.
2. Human development. Sport is placed at the service of the harmonious development of humankind, aiming at a peaceful society that preserves human dignity.
3. The Olympic Movement itself. It is the organised, universal, permanent action — under the IOC's supreme authority — of everyone inspired by Olympism's values, covering all five continents and symbolised by the five interlaced rings.
4. Sport as a human right. Every individual must be able to practise sport without discrimination, in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
5. Political neutrality and autonomy. Sports organisations must apply political neutrality while retaining the autonomy to set their own rules and governance, applied with good governance. …
