Labour is one of the four factors of production. It refers to any exertion of the human mind or body undertaken with the aim of earning a reward, and not simply for the enjoyment got from the work.

Marshall's definition: "Labour is any exertion of mind or body undergone partly or wholly with a view to earning some good other than the pleasure derived directly from the work."
