EVALUATION
The chapter-end evaluation is organised in four parts of increasing depth. Part I (Multiple Choice Questions) has 15 objective questions, several drawn from NEET/AIPMT/IIT-JEE/NSEP question banks, covering the acceleration-displacement graph of SHM, symmetric-crossing time-period problems, the seconds pendulum on another planet, a pendulum in an accelerating vehicle, amplitude ratios for two spring-mass systems, the effect of cutting a spring in half, phase-based displacement calculations, a pendulum with an accelerating point of suspension, maximum spring extension under gravity, acceleration-displacement-period relations, a draining hollow-sphere pendulum, the units of a damping constant, energy-based amplitude calculations, and force calculations from mass, period and amplitude. Part II (Short Answer Questions) has 15 questions testing definitions -- periodic/non-periodic motion, force constant, time period, frequency, epoch, series/parallel springs, the simple pendulum's time period and laws, the LHO's time period, and the four types of oscillation. Part III (Long Answer Questions) has 10 questions requiring full derivations -- SHM as periodic motion, SHM as a circular-motion projection, angular SHM and its time period, the SHM-vs-angular-SHM comparison, the simple pendulum in detail, horizontal and vertical spring oscillations, the U-tube liquid column, energy in SHM, and the four types of oscillation. Part IV (Exercises) has 6 numerical/derivation problems: an energy-to-force derivation verifying H …
