Rights of an unpaid seller against the goods:
- Right of lien — the right to retain possession of the goods and refuse to deliver them until the price is paid, so long as the seller remains in possession of the goods.
- Right of stoppage of goods in transit — where the buyer has become insolvent and the goods, though already handed to a carrier, have not yet reached the buyer, the unpaid seller may resume possession of the goods while in transit and retain them until paid.
- Right of resale — in specified circumstances (e.g. the goods are perishable, or the seller has given notice of intent to resell and the buyer still fails to pay within a reasonable time), an unpaid seller exercising lien or stoppage in transit may resell the goods. …
