The idea. The repetition construct in algorithms models exactly what we do whenever a task consists of many identical small actions. Recognising the repeated action and the stopping condition in each daily activity is the skill that later turns into writing correct loop bodies and loop conditions.
Routine activities involving repetition (a model list):
| Activity | Repeated action | Loop stops when |
|---|---|---|
| Climbing stairs | take one step up | you reach your floor |
| Brushing teeth | one brushing stroke | teeth are clean (about 2 minutes) |
| Making chapatis | roll and cook one chapati | the dough is finished |
| Morning walk | complete one round of the park | target rounds/distance done |
| Reading a book | read one page | the chapter/book ends |
| Counting money | count one note and move to next | no notes remain |
| Writing lines/homework | write one line | required number reached |
| Filling a water bottle | keep pouring | the bottle is full |
| Skipping rope | one jump | target count reached |
| Checking attendance | call one name from the register | every name has been called |
Notice the two flavours of loop hiding here, the same two we meet in pseudocode: …
