- Which part of the human brain is the most developed? The most developed part of the human brain is the cerebrum. It is the largest and most elaborate structure of the forebrain and forms the major part of the whole brain. A deep, lengthwise cleft divides it into left and right cerebral hemispheres, joined by a thick band of fibres, the corpus callosum, so the two sides can communicate. Each hemisphere is covered by the cerebral cortex, thrown into prominent folds that greatly increase its surface area. This cortex contains motor areas that direct voluntary movement, sensory areas that receive sensations, and large association areas that link information from different senses and handle memory and communication. Because it is the site of conscious thought, memory, intelligence, emotions and voluntary control, the cerebrum is regarded as the most developed part of the brain.
