Compare each balance-sheet item across the two dates, computing the absolute change and the percentage change on the 2016 (base-year) figure. Both sides grow from ₹27 lakh to ₹35 lakh (+29.63%), keeping the sheet balanced.

Concept

A comparative balance sheet compares a company's financial position (assets, liabilities and equity) at two dates — a horizontal-analysis tool in the NCERT Class 12 Accountancy syllabus. It follows the standard Schedule III order: I. Equity and Liabilities (Shareholders' Funds, Non-current Liabilities, Current Liabilities) and II. Assets (Non-current and Current). The percentage change on the total is a headline figure — it shows the overall growth or shrinkage of the firm's financial size.

Working Note

The earlier year (March 31, 2016) is the base year, so each percentage is the absolute change ÷ the 2016 figure × 100. The solution is presented in ₹ lakhs.
