Law of DMU: as consumption of a good rises, its marginal utility falls.

Statement: The Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility says that, other things being equal, as a consumer consumes more and more units of a commodity, the marginal utility (satisfaction from each additional unit) continuously declines.

Explanation with a diagram (described): Plot units of the commodity on the X-axis and marginal utility on the Y-axis. The MU curve slopes downward from left to right, showing that each successive unit gives less extra satisfaction. The curve eventually cuts the X-axis (MU = 0) at the point of satiety — where Total Utility is maximum — and goes below the axis (negative MU) if consumption continues, meaning disutility.
