Hormones are internally-produced regulatory messengers; vitamins are diet-derived micronutrients needed as cofactors.

  1. Origin: Hormones are synthesised within the body itself by specific endocrine glands (e.g. insulin by the pancreas, thyroxine by the thyroid). Vitamins are, with very few exceptions, NOT synthesised by the human body and must be supplied through external food/diet.

  2.
