Olympic Value Education (OVE) is the framework that turns the ideals of Olympism into teachable lessons, using sport and physical activity as the classroom. It is organised around five themes:
1. Joy of Effort — Young people learn to enjoy the experience of taking part, trying hard and improving their skills, so that satisfaction comes from participation and effort, not only from the result. The lesson learned through play is a positive, lifelong love of activity.
2. Fair Play — Playing honestly, within both the rules and the spirit of the game, and respecting opponents and officials. Through play, students learn integrity and that a win is worthy only when won fairly.
3. Respect for Others — Accepting and valuing people whatever their origin, culture, gender or ability. Competing side by side under shared rules teaches tolerance and inclusion.
4. Pursuit of Excellence — Striving to give one's best and to keep improving according to one's own goals. It teaches discipline, perseverance and self-improvement. …
