Attention, Mental Toughness and Resilience are three separate but complementary attributes, each protecting a different part of an athlete's performance.

Attention (section 9.5.1) governs what an athlete focuses on in the moment — broad focus (tracking multiple things, like a batsman reading pace, seam and swing together) or narrow focus (locking onto one task), directed either externally (teammates, opponents, the field) or internally (own thoughts, own target). Mental Toughness (section 9.5.2) is the psychological edge that lets an athlete cope better with training/competition demands than opponents and stay "determined, focused, confident, and in control under pressure" — this is what separates consistently elite performers from merely talented ones, since it governs how performance holds up specifically WHEN pressure rises.

Resilience (section 9.5.3) governs recovery — the ability to "bounce back emotionally" from the setbacks that are unavoidable in sport (injury, losing streaks, training load).
