Starting from PV = nRT for each gaseous species, the equilibrium constant expressed in terms of partial pressures (Kp) can be related to the one expressed in terms of concentrations (Kc) via Kp = Kc(RT)^Dn.

Consider a general gaseous equilibrium:

aA(g) + bB(g) <=> cC(g) + dD(g)

Kc = [C]^c[D]^d / [A]^a[B]^b

Kp = (P_C)^c(P_D)^d / (P_A)^a(P_B)^b

For an ideal gas, PV = nRT, so P = (n/V)RT = CRT, where C = n/V is the molar concentration.

Substituting P = CRT for each species into the Kp expression:

Kp = [(C_C.RT)^c (C_D.RT)^d] / [(C_A.RT)^a (C_B.RT)^b]

= (C_C^c C_D^d / C_A^a C_B^b) x (RT)^(c+d) / (RT)^(a+b)

= Kc x (RT)^[(c+d)-(a+b)]
